As a Movement Science Laboratory Technician – Data & AI at Strolll, you will play a critical role in supporting the execution of human subject studies, motion capture data collection, and experimental workflows within our Movement Science Laboratory and simulation environments.
You will be responsible for participant recruitment and coordination, preparing and running lab-based experiments, and ensuring high-quality data capture across motion capture systems and AR environments. This role is essential to enabling the data pipelines and scientific insights that power Strolll’s clinical and product innovation.
Working closely with the VP of Data & AI, Senior Data Scientist, Engineering, Clinical, and Science teams, you will also contribute to data processing, quality assurance, and early-stage data analysis workflows.
This is a highly collaborative, hands-on role that bridges clinical research operations, biomechanics/movement science, and applied data science.
Due to the hands-on requirements of this position, the role is on-site at our offices in Stafford, UK.
This role reports to the VP – Data & AI.
Participant Recruitment & Study Coordination

Recruit, schedule, and manage study participants (including clinical populations where applicable).

Coordinate logistics for study visits, including informed consent, onboarding, and protocol adherence.

Maintain accurate participant records in compliance with applicable data privacy and regulatory requirements.
Motion Capture & Lab Operations
-
Set up, calibrate, and operate motion capture systems, wearable sensors, and AR environments.

Execute experimental protocols in the Movement Science Laboratory and simulation spaces.
-
Ensure high-quality, consistent data capture across sessions and studies.
-
Troubleshoot hardware, software, and environmental issues during data collection sessions.
Data Collection & Management

Organize, label, and maintain structured datasets collected from lab sessions.
-
Perform data quality checks, validation, and basic preprocessing of motion and sensor data.
-
Support data versioning, documentation, and reproducibility practices in collaboration with the Data & AI team.
Data Processing & Analytical Support

Assist in preprocessing pipelines for motion capture, telemetry, and experimental datasets.
-
Partner with the Senior Data Scientist to prepare datasets for modeling, analysis, and algorithm development.

Contribute to exploratory data analysis (EDA) and visualization efforts where applicable.
Cross-Functional Collaboration

Work closely with Engineering teams to test and evaluate AR features in controlled environments.

Support Clinical and Science teams in executing research studies and validating clinical outcomes.

Collaborate on iterative improvements to study design, lab workflows, and data collection protocols.
Lab & Equipment Management

Maintain lab equipment, ensuring proper calibration, upkeep, and readiness.

Manage inventory of sensors, markers, devices, and related lab materials.

Ensure lab safety procedures and operational best practices are followed.
Continuous Improvement

Identify opportunities to improve lab efficiency, data quality, and participant experience.

Contribute to documentation of standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Support preparation of materials for research publications, reports, and internal knowledge sharing.
Required
-
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Kinesiology, Biomechanics, Movement Science, Biomedical Engineering, or related field (or equivalent practical experience).

Hands-on experience in motion capture systems, biomechanics labs, or human performance testing environments.

Experience working with human subjects in research or clinical settings.
-
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in data collection and documentation.

Familiarity with data handling tools such as Python, MATLAB, or similar (basic proficiency acceptable).

Ability to follow experimental protocols and maintain data integrity.

Strong interpersonal skills for working with study participants and cross-functional teams.

Detail-oriented and highly organised.

Comfortable working in both hands-on lab environments and data workflows.

Preferred

The pay range for this role is:
38,000 - 40,000 GBP per year(Strolll HQ)
