Overview
We are seeking a passionate and skilled Commis Chef / Chef de Partie to join our dynamic culinary team. This role offers an exciting opportunity for individuals with a strong background in food preparation and kitchen operations to develop their skills within a professional hospitality environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in the preparation and presentation of high-quality dishes, maintaining food safety standards, and supporting the overall smooth running of the kitchen. Prior supervisory experience is advantageous, as there may be opportunities to lead sections and manage junior staff. Duties
- Prepare, cook, and present dishes according to established recipes and standards
- Assist in the supervision of food production processes, ensuring efficiency and quality control
- Manage food safety protocols, including hygiene standards and allergen awareness
- Support team management by mentoring junior kitchen staff and ensuring smooth workflow during service
- Collaborate with the head chef to develop new menu items and improve existing offerings
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of workstations, adhering to health and safety regulations
- Monitor stock levels, assist with inventory control, and communicate supply needs to procurement staff
- Serve dishes efficiently during service periods, ensuring customer satisfaction is met or exceeded
Requirements
- Proven experience in a professional kitchen environment, preferably within a restaurant or hospitality setting
- Strong knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques, and kitchen safety standards
- Previous supervisory or team management experience is desirable but not essential
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to work efficiently under pressure
- Passion for culinary arts with a keen eye for detail and presentation
- Good understanding of food safety regulations and allergen management
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, or public holidays as required
- Relevant culinary qualifications or certifications are advantageous but not mandatory
