Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Nursing Home Cook to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing nutritious and appealing meals for residents, ensuring all food safety standards are met. Duties
- Prepare and cook meals in accordance with dietary requirements and nutritional guidelines
- Plan menus that cater to residents' specific needs and preferences
- Ensure all food is prepared safely, adhering to food safety regulations and hygiene standards
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, including washing dishes and sanitising surfaces
- Manage stock levels, order supplies as needed, and monitor expiry dates to minimise waste
- Serve meals to residents in a courteous and professional manner
- Collaborate with care staff to coordinate meal times and special dietary requests
- Follow all health and safety protocols during food preparation and service
Qualifications
- Proven experience in food preparation, cooking, or kitchen roles, preferably within a healthcare or care home setting
- Strong knowledge of food safety standards and procedures
- Experience in meal preparation for diverse dietary requirements
- Previous restaurant or catering experience is advantageous
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining high standards of hygiene and presentation
- Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail
- Good communication skills and a friendly, professional attitude towards residents and colleagues
