Job Title: School Cleaner
Location: Crookhey Hall, Cockerham, Lancaster, LA2 0HA
Hours: 16 per week | Monday to Friday
Rota: Monday to Thursday 2.00pm - 5.00pm, Friday 1.00pm - 5.00pm
Salary: £9,455.20 per annum (£13.25 per hour, not pro rata)
Contract: Permanent | Term Time Only
Start: Sept 2026

At Crookhey Hall School, we’re looking for a reliable and enthusiastic School Cleaner to join our friendly team. Working just 16 hours per week, Monday to Friday during term time, this is a great opportunity to enjoy regular hours while becoming a valued part of a supportive school community.
Your work will play an important role in creating a clean, safe and welcoming environment where our pupils can learn, grow and thrive. From preparing classrooms for the next school day to keeping shared spaces fresh and hygienic, you’ll be able to see the difference your work makes every day.

What You'll Be Doing
- Keep classrooms, offices, corridors, toilets and communal areas clean, hygienic and welcoming.
- Carry out routine cleaning alongside occasional deep-cleaning and additional tasks when required.
- Ensure cleaning equipment and materials are used and stored safely in line with COSHH requirements.
- Monitor cleaning supplies and let the team know when stock needs replenishing.
- Identify and report any maintenance or health and safety concerns.
- Work alongside the Site Manager and wider team to maintain high standards across the school.
- Help create a safe and positive environment for our pupils, colleagues and visitors.
Who We’re Looking For
We’re looking for someone who:
- Takes pride in creating clean, well-presented spaces.
- Is reliable, punctual and has excellent attention to detail.
- Can work independently while also being a positive member of the wider school team.
- Has a practical, flexible and can-do approach.
- Understands the importance of health, safety and safe cleaning practices.
- Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of children and young people.
- Holds a Full UK Driving Licence.
Previous cleaning experience is welcomed, particularly within a school, healthcare or similar environment, but full training can be provided.

Crookhey Hall School is a Social and Emotional Mental Health (SEMH) School which caters for boys and girls aged 10 - 17 years of age. We provide young people with an educational experience that will not only extend their academic and vocational social skills and abilities but will also promote personal growth and help to build self-esteem. In this way it is hoped that each individual will aspire to achieve their full potential, eventually leaving school with the determination to make a positive contribution to society in the years to come.
Crookhey Hall School has a 15-acre setting in countryside south of Cockerham, near Lancaster. Due to the location, it would be beneficial for candidates to have a driving licence.
The aim of the site is to provide enough support to unlock each pupil’s potential so they can live fulfilling and productive lives.
