Role Description
To support the Finance Manager and Group Management Accountant in the day-to-day management of the Group’s financial operations.
Maintaining accurate financial records, supporting reporting and compliance activities and ensuring the smooth operation of transactional finance functions. The post holder will work closely with colleagues across the Group, providing administrative and operational support where required.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management and Reporting
- Process and monitor financial transactions across the Group.
- Maintain accurate accounting records and financial documentation.
- Assist with the preparation of monthly management accounts and financial reports.
- Support the Finance Manager with financial analysis and reporting requirements.
Accounting Operations
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
- Process supplier invoices and customer receipts accurately and efficiently.
- Perform regular bank reconciliations and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Maintain accounting ledgers, journals and supporting records.
Compliance and Audit
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, financial procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain accurate audit trails and supporting documentation.
- Assist with internal and external audit activities.
- Support VAT, statutory and other regulatory reporting requirements.
Financial Analysis and Control
- Monitor cash flow and working capital performance.
- Investigate financial discrepancies and resolve issues promptly.
- Assist in identifying financial risks and opportunities for process improvements.
- Produce ad hoc financial reports and analysis as required.
Project and Business Support
- Track project-related expenditure and invoicing.
- Ensure accurate allocation of costs across projects and business units.
- Support purchasing and administrative activities where required.
- Collaborate with colleagues across operations, HR and other departments to support business objectives.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Proven experience in a finance, accounts or bookkeeping role.
- Recent experience using Sage 200.
- Experience using DocuWare and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word.
- Understanding of accounting principles and financial controls.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
- AAT Level 3 qualified or studying towards qualification.
- ACCA foundation or part-qualified status.
- Experience within a manufacturing, FMCG or multi-company environment.
- Experience supporting project accounting and cost tracking.
