Location: Ké Steps Preschool, Bluebell Hill Community Centre
Hours: 8.30am–3.30pm (Term Time Only)
Purpose of the Role
The Curriculum Lead is responsible for leading the educational experience at Ké Steps Preschool.
Working closely with the Director and Operations Manager, you will shape a curriculum that reflects our philosophy, supports children's independence and curiosity, and inspires practitioners to provide meaningful learning experiences every day.
Key Responsibilities
Curriculum Leadership
- Lead the planning and development of the curriculum.
- Ensure learning reflects children's interests, needs and developmental stages.
- Champion purposeful play and meaningful experiences.
Teaching & Learning
- Support practitioners to deliver high-quality interactions.
- Promote language-rich environments.
- Encourage sustained shared thinking.
- Help practitioners understand how children learn.
Observation & Assessment
- Ensure observations are meaningful.
- Support staff to use assessments to inform future learning.
- Promote reflective practice rather than paperwork for its own sake.
Environment
- Lead the continuous development of learning environments.
- Ensure resources encourage independence, curiosity and exploration.
- Review room layouts and continuous provision.
Professional Development
- Coach colleagues through modelling and discussion.
- Share ideas and current best practice.
- Support quality improvement across the setting.
Essential Qualifications
- Level 3 Early Years qualification or above
- Enhanced DBS
- Paediatric First Aid
- Safeguarding training
- Strong knowledge of EYFS
- Experience in curriculum planning and leadership
