Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and organised Shop Keeper to oversee daily operations within our retail environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing stock, assisting customers, and ensuring the smooth running of the shop. Responsibilities
- Manage daily shop operations, including opening and closing procedures.
- Maintain accurate stock levels, organise stockroom and display areas.
- Assist customers with enquiries, purchases, and product information in a friendly manner.
- Process transactions accurately using relevant accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, or Xero.
- Handle accounts payable tasks, including invoice processing and supplier payments.
- Keep records of sales, returns, and stock movements for reporting purposes.
- Ensure the shop remains clean, organised, and compliant with health and safety regulations.
- Support inventory management by conducting regular stock checks and reordering supplies as needed.
- Collaborate with team members to achieve sales targets and improve customer satisfaction.
Skills
- Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage or Xero is highly desirable.
- Experience with accounts payable processes and financial record keeping.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Excellent communication skills to assist customers effectively.
- Basic numeracy skills for handling transactions and stock counts.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Attention to detail to ensure accuracy in record keeping and stock management.
