Our Supported Housing Team play a vital role in ensuring our vulnerable service users are supported at the earliest possible stages of when help is needed. As a Supported Housing Officer, you’ll be at the heart of that mission.
What You'll Do
You will deliver high quality, meaningful, regular one-to-one support to residents of Swindon Borough Council owned/managed Supported Housing Schemes. Coach and empower residents to develop the knowledge and skills needed to become tenancy ready and live independently.
You will be working on a patch and will be visible, approachable and be the trusted face of organisational accountability for the quality of homes, neighbourhoods and services we provide. Develop a positive professional relationship with vulnerable residents who can have multiple trauma-based complex needs.
This role will directly deliver a range of tenancy management and neighbourhood services, collaborating with key colleagues from across the organisation as well as developing relationships with other local service providers. You will aim to sustain licences and tenancies and ensure neighbourhoods are clean, safe and a place where our customers want to live and thrive.
What You'll Bring

- Proven experience of working with customers face to face and over the telephone; being able to demonstrate excellent customer handling skills and dealing courteously and in a professional manner, speaking clearly and showing patience towards others; being able to gather information and give support and assistance.
- A problem solver who can use their own initiative.

You must be fluent in the English language (as a requirement of Part 7 of the Immigration Act “for the effective performance of a customer-facing role”).
You’ll have a full driving licence or ability to travel throughout the Borough and access to a vehicle to be able to support sessions and events around the town and carry out inspections.
The team operates a hybrid working model with all practitioners expected to be in the office for a minimum of two days per week.
