About the role
Join Balfour Beatty's Power Transmission & Distribution team and play a leading role in delivering one of Scotland's key electricity infrastructure projects.
As Works Manager on the Skye 132kV Reinforcement Project, you'll take ownership of major civil engineering and construction activities, leading teams and subcontractors to deliver complex infrastructure safely, efficiently and to the highest standards.
This role will particularly appeal to experienced construction leaders from a civil engineering / major infrastructure background.
Working alongside the Senior Project Manager and Construction Director, you'll have the opportunity to shape delivery on a major infrastructure scheme while progressing your career within one of the UK's largest and busiest infrastructure businesses.
What you'll be doing
- Leading the safe delivery of multiple civil engineering work packages on site.
- Managing and developing Construction Managers, Section Engineers and Works Supervisors.
- Planning, coordinating and monitoring subcontractor performance.
- Driving programme delivery through effective planning and Short Interval Control.
- Managing labour, plant, materials and temporary works requirements.
- Ensuring construction activities meet quality, safety and environmental standards.
- Monitoring progress against key milestones and implementing recovery plans where required.
- Maintaining accurate site records, reporting and project documentation.
- Building strong relationships with clients, stakeholders and supply chain partners.
- Championing continuous improvement and right-first-time delivery.
Who we're looking for
- Proven experience in a Works Manager, Construction Manager or Senior Site Manager role within civil engineering or major infrastructure projects.
- Strong background delivering earthworks, reinforced concrete, structures, utilities, highways, rail, energy or similar heavy construction projects.
- Strong understanding of safe systems of work and construction site management.
- Experience managing subcontractors and coordinating complex site activities.
- Excellent communication, leadership and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to make informed decisions in a fast-paced project environment.
- Strong planning, organisational and problem-solving capabilities.
- Commercial awareness and understanding of project controls.
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365.
- CSCS Card
- SMSTS (or equivalent)
