Responsibilities
- Design and deliver engaging art lessons that cater to various age groups and skill levels, incorporating techniques such as drawing, painting, sculpture, and digital art.
- Foster a positive classroom environment that encourages creativity, exploration, and respectful collaboration among students.
- Mentor students by providing constructive feedback, supporting their artistic development, and inspiring confidence in their abilities.
- Incorporate interdisciplinary approaches by integrating elements of journalism, creative writing, and other subjects to enrich art projects.
- Manage classroom behavior effectively through proactive behavior management strategies, ensuring a safe and productive learning space.
- Organise exhibitions, art shows, and portfolios that showcase student work to the school community and beyond.
- Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development, special education accommodations, and extracurricular activities such as tutoring or after-school clubs.
Requirements
- Proven experience in teaching art or related creative disciplines with strong communication skills to connect with diverse learners.
- Knowledge of various artistic techniques including traditional media and digital tools.
- Ability to mentor students with different learning needs, including those in special education programs.
- Strong organisational skills to plan lessons, manage classroom activities, and coordinate student projects effectively.
- Experience in journalism or creative writing is a plus for integrating storytelling into art assignments.
- Skills in proofreading and editing student work to promote high-quality presentations and portfolios.
- Demonstrated ability to manage classroom behavior constructively while fostering an inclusive environment.
