Whizz Kids currently has vacancies for a Play Worker to work in one of our Out of School Clubs in Alsager with a start date of 2nd September 2026. Applicants should be available to work 20 hours per week in term time, Monday - Thursday 7.30am - 9am before school and 2.30pm-6pm after school. Applicants should ideally be qualified to a minimum of a Level 2 in Childcare or Play Work, or have relevant experience working with children and enjoys finding creative ways to keep children happy and entertained before and after school. Hours are also available in school holidays by mutual arrangement.
Applicants must be 18 years or over due to Ofsted Regulations. Pay rates always above minimum wage and based on qualifications and experience.
Whizz Kids Play Worker Specification
Essential:
- MUST be able to travel to and from Alsager twice a day.
- To genuinely like and enjoy being with children.
- Ability to communicate with children appropriately.
- Good communication skills.
- To present as a positive role model.
- A reliable person who is punctual and good at time keeping.
- Ability to act on own initiative, judgement and common sense.
- To be able to work as part of a team and to make positive contributions.
- A flexible approach to working patterns to meet the demands of the service and /or its users.
- To pass an enhanced DBS check.
- To provide three positive references.
- Sense of humour, enthusiasm and imagination.
Desirable Criteria:
- A current First Aid certificate
- Food Hygiene qualification
- Experience of working with children of a primary school age preferably within a Play environment
- To have a relevant childcare qualification which is NVQ Level II or above
