Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Bar Shift Leader to oversee bar operations during their designated shifts. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a passion for hospitality, and extensive knowledge of food and beverage service. This role involves supervising team members, ensuring exceptional customer service, and maintaining high standards of food safety and cleanliness. The Bar Shift Leader will play a vital part in creating a welcoming atmosphere while managing daily bar activities efficiently.
Duties
- Supervise and coordinate the bar team to ensure smooth service during shifts
- Oversee food preparation and ensure quality standards are met in line with restaurant or hotel policies
- Assist with cooking and food production when necessary, maintaining high culinary standards
- Manage the serving of drinks and food to guests, ensuring prompt and courteous service
- Enforce food safety regulations and maintain cleanliness of the bar area
- Lead by example in delivering excellent hospitality and customer experience
- Handle customer queries or complaints professionally, resolving issues promptly
- Monitor stock levels, assist with inventory management, and place orders as needed
- Train new team members on service procedures, safety protocols, and company policies
- Ensure compliance with licensing laws and health & safety regulations
Qualifications
- Proven experience in restaurant, hotel, or hospitality environments, preferably with supervising or team management responsibilities
- Strong background in food preparation, cooking, and food safety practices
- Knowledge of food production processes and kitchen operations
- Experience in serving beverages and understanding of barista techniques is advantageous
- Leadership qualities with the ability to motivate and manage a team effectively
- Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail in maintaining cleanliness and safety standards
- Previous supervisory experience within a hospitality setting is desirable
- Ability to work under pressure during busy periods while maintaining professionalism
- A passion for delivering outstanding guest experiences and fostering a positive team environment
