About Us
Godkin House Day Centre is a warm, friendly, and inclusive day service supporting adults aged 18–65 with learning disabilities, autism, adhd, and complex needs. We provide a safe, engaging, and person‑centred environment where every service user is valued and supported to have a meaningful and fulfilling time while in our care.
Job hours
Full time or part time considered - Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday 9:00am – 4:00pm.
Hourly rate
£13 per hour.
Food Preparation & Kitchen Duties
- Support the preparation of meals for our service users.
- Follow food hygiene, allergy, and dietary requirements at all times.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised kitchen environment.
- Carry out routine cleaning tasks such as wiping surfaces, washing and drying up, and cleaning of all dining rooms.
- Assist with stock rotation, checking dates, and reporting low stock levels.
Supporting Cooking Groups
- Help plan and deliver cooking sessions with our service users that are engaging, inclusive, and accessible - ensure kitchen safety tasks are completed.
- Support service users to take part safely, promoting independence and confidence.
- Adapt tasks to individual abilities - person centred.
- Encourage and promote choice, creativity, and skill‑building during sessions.
Supporting Shopping Trips
- Support our service users on community shopping outings - to our local shops and supermarkets.
- Promote independence - support with choosing ingredients and using shopping lists.
- Support safe travel, road awareness, and positive community engagement.
- Follow risk assessments and report any changes in support needs.
Teamwork & Communication
- Work closely with the team leader to ensure meals and activities run smoothly.
- Contribute ideas for menus, cooking activities, and improving the mealtime experience for all of our service users.
- Communicate any concerns about service users’ wellbeing to the team leader and the day centre manager.
- Work collaboratively with the wider team to maintain a safe, positive, and inclusive environment. This will include attending scheduled staff meetings, supervision sessions and ongoing training and development.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Follow all food‑hygiene, infection‑control, and health‑and‑safety procedures.
- Report hazards, equipment faults, or incidents promptly.
- Support a clean, welcoming environment across the day centre.
- Respect confidentiality, dignity, and person‑centred values at all times.
About You
- Caring, patient, and enthusiastic, with a genuine passion for supporting others
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Reliable and able to use own initiative
- Experience in the kitchen, care or day‑service support is helpful but not essential — full training will be provided.
