About the Role
Fabexi Equipment and Logistics Services Ltd is seeking an experienced and commercially focused Senior Logistics Operations Manager to lead and improve our equipment, transport, warehouse, and logistics operations in Southampton.
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that equipment, materials, and customer deliveries are planned, handled, stored, and transported safely and efficiently. You will oversee daily operational activities, manage logistics teams and external service providers, monitor performance, and introduce improvements that reduce costs and increase service reliability.
This is a senior operational position suited to a logistics professional with strong leadership experience and a thorough understanding of transport, equipment coordination, supply-chain processes, health and safety, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the company’s daily logistics, transport, equipment, and warehouse operations.
- Manage the movement, storage, allocation, and delivery of equipment and materials.
- Develop operational plans that meet customer requirements and business targets.
- Oversee transport scheduling, route planning, fleet utilisation, and delivery performance.
- Coordinate equipment availability, maintenance schedules, inspections, and deployment.
- Manage logistics coordinators, transport planners, warehouse employees, drivers, and operational support staff.
- Establish clear team objectives and monitor individual and departmental performance.
- Ensure customer orders and deliveries are completed accurately and within agreed timescales.
- Monitor operational costs and identify opportunities to improve efficiency.
- Manage relationships with suppliers, contractors, hauliers, and third-party logistics providers.
- Review supplier performance, service levels, pricing, and contractual obligations.
- Maintain accurate inventory, equipment, transport, and operational records.
- Ensure compliance with UK transport regulations, health and safety requirements, and company procedures.
- Conduct operational risk assessments and implement suitable control measures.
- Investigate delivery failures, equipment issues, accidents, complaints, and operational incidents.
- Develop corrective and preventive actions following operational problems.
- Monitor key performance indicators relating to delivery performance, equipment utilisation, costs, safety, and customer satisfaction.
- Prepare regular operational reports and present findings to senior management.
- Work closely with customer service, procurement, finance, sales, and maintenance teams.
- Support recruitment, training, performance management, and development of operational employees.
- Lead continuous-improvement projects across logistics and equipment operations.
- Support business growth by developing scalable and reliable logistics processes.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
- At least five years of experience in logistics, transport, supply chain, warehouse operations, equipment services, or a related field.
- Previous experience in a logistics or operations management position.
- Demonstrated experience managing operational teams and service providers.
- Strong understanding of transport planning, fleet operations, warehousing, inventory control, and equipment coordination.
- Experience monitoring operational budgets, costs, and performance indicators.
- Strong knowledge of workplace health and safety requirements.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced operational environment.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience handling operational escalations and customer service issues.
- Confidence working with suppliers, contractors, drivers, and senior stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and reporting abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and logistics, inventory, fleet, or warehouse management systems.
- Full UK driving licence or the ability to travel between operational locations when required.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
- A qualification in logistics, supply chain management, transport management, operations management, business management, or a related subject.
- Transport Manager Certificate of Professional Competence.
- Membership of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport or another relevant professional body.
- Experience within equipment rental, industrial services, construction logistics, freight, distribution, or specialist transport.
- Familiarity with Operator Licence requirements and UK transport legislation.
- Experience implementing operational systems or process-improvement programmes.
- Knowledge of ISO quality, environmental, or occupational health and safety standards.
Pay: £50,000.00-£60,000.00 per year
