We are seeking an experienced Estimator to join our team. As an Estimator, you will play a crucial role in analysing customer opportunities and providing accurate cost estimates. If you have a strong background in cost control and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, we would love to hear from you.
Duties:
- Analyse customer enquiry by product, material and specification to determine materials, labour, and equipment required in order to build up a cost price.
- Collaborate with sales team, production, and subcontractors to gather necessary information for accurate estimates - must have good communication skills and team approach.
- Go to market to obtain current pricing for materials.
- Prepare detailed cost estimates, including labour, materials, added processes such as testing, heat treatment and testing.
- Review and analyse quotes from subcontractors and suppliers to see if they hold benefit to reduce cost - First price submitted to the customer must be the best price possible.
- Identify potential risks and opportunities for cost savings - everything must conform on the chosen route - to find out after winning the order that a miss costing has been done can be disaster.
- Present the finished quotation for check off if over a certain amount and then send to sales so they can quote the customer.
- Update and maintain a database of cost information for future reference
Requirements:
- Proven experience as an Estimator or similar role
- Strong knowledge of cost control principles and techniques
- Proficient in reading drawings and project specifications
- Excellent mathematical skills with the ability to perform calculations
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
