About the role
We’re looking for a positive, reliable Kitchen & Café Assistant to help our busy kitchen and café run smoothly. This is a varied daytime role in a friendly team, ideal for someone who enjoys good food, likes practical work, and wants to build useful skills in a supportive food business.
Based in the heart of Cornwall, our award-winning food hall champions local produce and Cornwall’s reputation for great food. We’re also employee-owned, so our team has a real voice in the business and shares in its success.
What you’ll do
· Prepare simple food items such as sandwiches, salads, vegetables, sauces and other dish components.
· Keep the kitchen clean, tidy and well organised throughout the day.
· Wash crockery, cutlery and kitchen equipment.
· Use and maintain the dishwasher, including keeping it clean and reporting any issues.
· Help manage kitchen and café waste in line with our waste policy.
· Complete routine cleaning, deep cleaning and basic equipment maintenance tasks.
· Follow safe working procedures and help with end-of-shift cleaning so the next day starts well.
What we’re looking for
· A positive, proactive attitude and willingness to get stuck in.
· Good teamwork and the ability to stay calm in a busy environment.
· Confidence following instructions and working safely.
· An interest in food, ingredients and good service.
· The ability to stand for much of the day and lift or move heavier items when needed.
· Some knowledge of cleaning products and equipment would be helpful, but training can be given.

Hours and benefits
· Up to 37.5 hours per week,.
· Daytime shifts, usually 7.5 hours, starting between 7.30am and 8.30am Monday to Saturday, and 8.30am on Sundays.
· Some weekend and Bank Holiday work, shared fairly on a rota.
· We pay the Real living Wage of £13.45 per hour for over-18s, plus profit share.
