Avellino Care is looking for compassionate, resilient and enthusiastic Residential Care Practitioners to join our dedicated team in Norton Canes.
You will support children and young people aged 5–18 within our Ofsted-registered children’s homes with a rating of GOOD. The children we care for have learning disabilities and may display behaviours that challenge.
This is a varied and rewarding role where you will help each child feel safe, understood and valued while supporting them to build confidence, independence and essential life skills.
No two days are the same. You could be helping a young person prepare for school, taking part in activities, supporting their personal care or emotional needs, celebrating their achievements, or simply being there when they need reassurance.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing safe, consistent and child-centred care
- Building positive and trusting relationships with children and young people
- Supporting individual care plans, routines and personal goals
- Encouraging independence, communication and social development
- Supporting children with personal care where required
- Helping with education, appointments, activities and community outings
- Responding calmly and appropriately to behaviours that may challenge
- Maintaining accurate daily records and completing necessary reports
- Administering medication in line with training and company procedures
- Working closely with families, schools, social workers and other professionals
- Promoting safeguarding and maintaining a safe, nurturing home environment
- Working a flexible shift pattern, including evenings, weekends, bank holidays and approximately 7–8 sleep-ins per month

We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience supporting children or adults with learning disabilities
- Is caring, patient and genuinely passionate about supporting children
- Is calm, resilient and dependable during challenging situations
- Can maintain professional boundaries while building positive relationships
- Is a strong role model with excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Is flexible and able to work evenings, weekends, bank holidays and sleep-ins
- Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
- Is willing to undertake training and continue their professional development
Essential requirements
- A full UK driving licence
- The existing right to work in the UK
- Flexibility to complete approximately 7–8 sleep-ins per month
Please note that Avellino Care is unable to offer visa sponsorship for this position. Applicants must already have the right to work in the UK.
