Studio 48 is looking for an experienced, hands-on Bar Manager to take ownership of our day-to-day bar operation and support the General Manager with the wider running of the venue.
Your main focus will be the bar: leading the team, maintaining service and drinks standards, managing stock, controlling waste, training staff and making sure the bar is fully prepared for every service. You will also act as the senior person on duty when required and be trusted to open or close the venue in the General Manager's absence.
This role would suit an experienced Bar Supervisor, Duty Manager or junior Bar Manager who is ready to take on more ownership. You must have at least two years' supervisory or management experience in hospitality. A valid Personal Licence is required for this position.
Your responsibilities
· Taking day-to-day ownership of the Studio 48 bar operation
· Leading the bar team during service and setting the standard on shift
· Allocating duties, managing breaks and keeping the team productive during service
· Maintaining strong customer service and guest experience standards
· Ensuring all drinks are made consistently and to Studio 48 specifications
· Training, coaching and developing Bartenders and other bar team members
· Supporting the General Manager with onboarding and performance feedback for bar staff
· Making sure the bar and service areas are fully prepared before opening
· Completing opening and closing procedures and venue security checks
· Acting as the senior duty manager for the wider venue when the General Manager is not present
· Completing cash handling, cash-up and end-of-night procedures accurately
· Completing till, card payment and end-of-shift checks
· Monitoring stock levels and supporting drinks ordering so key products remain available
· Completing stock counts and investigating avoidable stock variances
· Controlling wastage, over-pouring and unnecessary stock loss to protect bar GP
· Maintaining bar cleanliness, organisation and basic equipment standards
· Ensuring Challenge 25, responsible alcohol service and premises licence requirements are followed
· Supporting health and safety, food safety and general venue compliance while on duty
· Handling customer complaints and incidents calmly and professionally
· Supporting birthday parties, brunches, hen parties, private hires and events
· Reporting operational, staffing, stock and maintenance issues to the General Manager
· Making sure the venue is left safe, secure and properly closed at the end of the night
What we are looking for
You should be someone who leads from the front, takes ownership of the bar and is comfortable stepping up to run the wider venue when required.
· At least 2 years' experience as a Bar Supervisor, Duty Manager, Assistant Bar Manager, Bar Manager or similar
· A valid Personal Licence
· Strong practical knowledge of day-to-day bar operations
· Experience leading and motivating a bar team
· Experience opening and closing a licensed venue
· Experience with stock control, stock counts and maintaining availability
· Confidence with cash handling, tills and end-of-night procedures
· A good understanding of responsible alcohol service, Challenge 25 and licensing requirements
· Strong customer service and problem-solving skills
· Confidence taking charge of a shift and handling difficult situations when required
· Strong communication, reliability and a hands-on approach to hospitality
Bar and cocktail knowledge
Strong general bar knowledge is required, although Studio 48 does not operate an overly complicated cocktail programme.
You should be comfortable with classic cocktails, spirits, beer and wine service, and be able to train the team to follow consistent specifications, measures and presentation standards.

This position is ideal for an experienced supervisor or duty manager who is ready for greater ownership of a bar while still working closely with the General Manager. You will have genuine responsibility for the bar operation and will be an important part of the venue management structure.
