East Boldon Village Pharmacy is looking for a friendly and reliable Pharmacy Medicines Counter Assistant / Pharmacy Assistant to join our team in East Boldon in South Tyneside. We are a family owned independent pharmacy with a well staffed team who care about our patients and provide quality healthcare to the local community.
As a Pharmacy Assistant, your main duties will be on the medicines counter. You will be the first person patients meet when coming into the pharmacy, speak to when seeking healthcare advice (referring to the Pharmacy team when appropriate) and interact with when collecting a prescription or ask for help when they wish to purchase a medicine. For the right candidate, dispensary duties will also be a part of the role, including dispensing and dispensary stock management.
The right candidate for this role must have excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and organisational skills. They also need to be able to work well under pressure, have good computer skills, and be familiar with basic medication handling procedures or willing to learn this information quickly. Cash handling is also required and cleaning is also a part of the role.
You will have to manage a busy counter including managing patient’s expectations, clinic bookings and handle prescriptions within the pharmacy. You will also manage all retail stock and communication with patients including updating our IT system and answering the phone. Other duties will include keeping the pharmacy clean, tidy and organised.
While a Medicines Counter Assistant or Dispenser qualification would be useful we will also consider candidates who have experience in a healthcare, reception or retail management setting or are just willing to give a new challenge a go. This is an excellent entry opportunity into Community Pharmacy. Full training will be given so candidates without a MCA qualification will need to undertake this training course and some of this will need to be done in their own time. There may be room to progress within the team once this course is completed for the right candidate.
For more information please don't hesitate to get in touch via email. Please do not contact the pharmacy directly. Interviews may be held via telephone and then the final round will take place at the pharmacy.
