J Witt Waste Recycling are recruiting a Mobile Plant (Shredder) / Loading Shovel Operator to be part of the yard team at our Waste Transfer Station. The successful candidate will join our friendly team in a fast paced, customer focused, local waste management amd recycling business.

The Role:
This Mobile Plant Operator role revolves around maintaining the effective and efficient running of the yard and Waste Transfer Station, with the safe operating of the site shredder and various plant and machinery, this role includes activities involving hauling, lifting, and loading vehicles; also some operation of Compactors, Screeners and Bailers; loading plant equipment and maintaining safe and clean operations and working space.
The role is an active one, both using machines (primarily Loading Shovels and the site mobile shredder) and manual handling, with safe manual handling practices. The post holder will be required to lift, move and load items.
Post holder will also be responsible for rejecting unacceptable items and contaminated loads; instructing customers coming to site for the weighbridge.
Yard Operatives work from 7.00am -4pm. Monday - Fridays. There may be additional work at the weekends, this will be discussed and arranged separately. All roles at JWitt are subject to a 3 month probationary period. Once a candidate has successfully passed his/her 3 month probation, hourly pay will be increased.
In-house training and tickets using our plant and machinery can be offered for the right person.
Skills/Experience/Qualifications:
The desired candidate would have:
- Relevant experience using Loading Shovel and shredders
- Experience operating plant and machinery
- A good work ethic and time keeping
- Be confident in conducting regular maintenance checks on machinery to ensure optimal performance
- Relevant experience and understand safe working practices working in a Yard environment/Recycling environment
- Able to take instruction and implement necessary actions and work well as part of a team
- physically fit and able to perform the above mentioned tasks
- Working in a recycling role previously is beneficial
- Ability to work effectively and efficiently alone and as part of a team
