The Opportunity
We are looking for experienced Site Supervisors to support the delivery of geosynthetic installation projects, leading site crews and coordinating day-to-day site activities.
This role suits a practical hands-on leader who understands construction methodologies, quality requirements and site-based WHSE responsibilities.
The Geosynthetic Installation Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the safe, efficient, and high-quality installation of geosyhthetic and geomembrane lining systems. This role ensures the candidate adequately assists the superintendent in the successful delivery of lining projects by supervising and coordinating all on-site lining activities as a part of the contracted project scope of works.
Works will be across Victoria and Queensland, Australia.
Key Responsibilities
- Daily toolbox / pre-start meetings are held with crew. Day-to-day control of sites.
- Supervision of site installation crews, crew logistics, plant and equipment. Coordination of sub-contractors.
- Demonstrated experience delivering geomembrane and geosynthetic lining environmental containment projects
- Completion of all required documentation and administration tasks including reporting, project sign-off, photographic records.
- Assist Project Managers with the completion of all project specific operational documentation (e.g. Safety, Quality, Environmental, cost trackers etc).
- Represent Fabtech in a professional manner and build positive client relationships and key stakeholder relationships.
- Create and maintain a supportive team culture through demonstrated leadership.
- Deployment and construction strategies of liners and floating covers, Work planning, Efficient construction strategies, Variation management.
- Material management (wastage, quality of material, proper handling), Stand down management, Equipment maintenance.
- Detailed understanding of geomembrane specifications and specific project requirements, Detailed understanding of welding processes and equipment.
- Ensure projects are delivered safely on time and to specification.
- Supervise thermal welding activities and seam testing both in-house and on-site. Maintain QA/QC records, inspection reports and project documentation.
- Assist in the implementation of procedures for reporting of hazards and incidents, and achieving a prompt response to investigations and corrections.
- Manage procedures for WHSE information, training and induction procedures of all personnel. Support effective monitoring of WHSE performance (e.g. regular workplace inspections are undertaken).
- Ensure housekeeping standards are maintained.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
Demonstrated experience delivering geomembrane and geosynthetic lining projects in the capacity of a senior welder, supervisor or superintendent.
- Sound understanding of thermal welding processes, seam testing requirements, and geomembrane quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) standards. Ability to read, interpret, and apply engineering drawings, technical specifications, and construction documentation.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate, manage, and develop high-performing site teams. Excellent communication, planning, and stakeholder management skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to workplace health, safety, environmental, and quality compliance. Ability to obtain an Australian Construction Induction White Card.
- International manual Light vehicle driver’s license
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
- Certification in Civil Construction, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
- Industry-recognized geomembrane installation or welding certification preferred.
- Confined Space Entry certification, working at Heights certification, current First Aid qualification desired.
- Experience with supervising over 500,000 m2 of lining installation projects in total.
