Location: Romford, Essex
Salary: £50,000 per annum
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm (Office-based, 5 days per week)

We are a growing and established contractor delivering essential services across the social housing sector, specialising in responsive/reactive maintenance, disrepair works, damp and mould remediation, void property refurbishments, and planned major works.
Working in partnership with local authorities, housing associations, and public sector clients, we are committed to delivering high-quality services that improve homes and communities. Due to continued growth, we are looking to appoint an experienced and driven Bid Writer to join our team in Romford.
The Role
As Bid Writer, you will play a critical role in securing new business opportunities by leading the preparation, writing, and submission of high-quality PQQs, SQs, ITTs, and tender responses across our core service areas.
You will work closely with operational teams, senior leadership, and subject matter experts to develop compelling, compliant, and persuasive submissions that demonstrate our expertise and competitive strengths.
This is an office-based position requiring strong organisation, excellent written communication skills, and experience within the social housing or construction sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end bid writing process for public and private sector tender submissions
- Prepare high-quality written responses for PQQs, SQs, ITTs, framework applications, and presentations
- Develop and maintain a library of bid content, case studies, CVs, and supporting documentation
- Collaborate with operational, commercial, HSEQ, and leadership teams to gather technical information and supporting evidence
- Interpret tender requirements and ensure all submissions are fully compliant and submitted on time
- Tailor responses to reflect client priorities, social value commitments, and company strengths
- Review tender portals and identify suitable opportunities
- Support bid strategy development, win themes, and submission planning
- Proofread and quality-check submissions for accuracy, consistency, and professionalism
- Monitor bid outcomes and support lessons learned for continuous improvement
RequirementsEssential
- Proven experience as a Bid Writer, Proposal Writer, or Tender Coordinator
- Experience within social housing, construction, property services, or maintenance contracting
- Strong understanding of reactive maintenance, disrepair, damp and mould, voids, or planned works contracts
- Experience responding to public sector tenders and framework submissions
- Excellent written English, editing, and proofreading skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines
- Highly organised with strong project management skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Desirable
- Experience working with local authority or housing association contracts
- Knowledge of procurement portals such as Proactis, Delta eSourcing, In-Tend, or Jaggaer
- Understanding of social value requirements and ESG responses
