Job summary
Are you looking for a rewarding role where no two days are the same. We are seeking a motivated, adaptable and compassionate individual to join our Radiology Department Assistant team supporting services across Lymington, Romsey and Hythe Hospitals. This is a varied, hands on role supporting patients and clinical staff within CT, MRI, Ultrasound and Xray services. Duties include preparing and supporting patients for examinations, assisting with moving and handling, chaperoning, stock management, administrative tasks and developing clinical skills including IV cannulation. This is a physically demanding role involving prolonged periods of standing and walking, patient handling, moving equipment and working across multiple clinical areas. The successful candidate must be comfortable working in busy environments with changing priorities, regular interruptions, close team working and frequent patient contact. We are looking for someone with good communication and IT skills, a positive attitude, resilience, flexibility and a willingness to learn. Previous healthcare experience is desirable but not essential as full training will be provided. This post requires regular travel between Lymington, Romsey and Hythe Hospitals. Main duties, tasks & skills required
Support Radiographers, Sonographers, Radiologists and the wider team in delivering safe, effective and patient centred care across Radiology services. Assist patients attending Xray, CT, MRI, Ultrasound and specialist clinics, providing support before, during and after examinations.
Duties include preparing patients and clinical areas, assisting with patient movement and manual handling, acting as a chaperone, undertaking IV cannulation and safety checks following training, supporting specialist procedures, maintaining stock levels, and ensuring high standards of cleanliness, infection prevention and control.
Use departmental IT systems to manage patient records, appointments and workflows, and undertake reception and administrative duties when required. Communicate effectively with patients, carers, colleagues and the wider multidisciplinary team.
Work flexibly across Lymington, Romsey and Hythe sites and actively promote the Trust's values and commitment to Equality, Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging. Participate in mandatory training, competency development and appraisal.
This is a physically active role involving prolonged periods of standing and walking, patient handling, moving equipment and wearing lead protection for some procedures.
