The Service & Team:
The SEND Support Service comprises a wide range of professionals who work with children and young people with SEND from 0-25 years. The small, friendly Cognition and Learning Team works with those children and young people who have a wide range of learning needs which are impacting on their progress.
All teams are involved in delivering bespoke training related to their area of expertise but are also part of the delivery of packages around broader areas of SEND. As the Experts at Hand model of practice becomes more embedded there will be further opportunities to expand and develop how we work.

The Role:
This is an exciting opportunity to join the well-respected Cognition and Learning Team on a fixed-term, part-time basis, working in the east of the county. The role holder will visit children and young people in their educational setting, observing and talking to them about the cognition and learning challenges they face. They will work closely with staff in the settings and provide well-written, accessible reports to support the needs of the learners.
As well as this, the role holder may be involved in a wide range of activities related to cognition and learning such as parent cafes/workshops and training. Close liaison with a wide range of other professionals is key!
This is a public/customer-facing role, where the statutory English language requirement for public sector workers applies.
This position will be subject to an enhanced criminal record disclosure check.
Working Pattern:
The role is 22 hours per week.
What you’ll need to succeed:
You will be an enthusiastic teacher who has a wide range of SEND experience; this may be as a SENDCO but this is not an essential qualification. You will be passionate about inclusion and about enabling others to support the needs of children and young people with SEND.
