The Role
Caval are currently recruiting for an experienced Welder / Fabricator to join a busy engineering and manufacturing environment on a 13-week temp-to-perm basis.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Welder / Fabricator with strong steel fabrication skills and the ability to work confidently from engineering drawings.
Working as part of an established team, you will be responsible for the fabrication, welding, assembly, installation and repair of steel and sheet metal products and equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- MIG/MAG and TIG welding of steel and sheet metal components.
- Fabricating and assembling products in accordance with engineering drawings.
- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications.
- Measuring, laying out and marking materials accurately.
- Cutting, preparing and positioning materials prior to welding.
- Using a range of mechanical hand tools, power tools and general engineering equipment.
- Carrying out fabrication, assembly, installation and repair work.
- Maintaining a high standard of workmanship and build cleanliness.
- Maintaining excellent housekeeping standards within the workshop.
- Following all company quality, health & safety and operational procedures.
- Working effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Communicating effectively with supervisors and other members of the engineering team.
- Working efficiently within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Supporting additional production requirements and overtime when required.
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
- 3–5 years' proven experience in welding and fabrication.
- Strong MIG/MAG welding skills; TIG experience is also required.
- Previous experience working as a Welder / Fabricator within an engineering or manufacturing environment.
- An apprenticeship or strong workshop-based fabrication background.
- Welding certificates/qualifications are desirable.
- Good general engineering knowledge.
- The ability to confidently read and understand engineering drawings.
- Strong mechanical aptitude.
- Experience using hand tools, power tools and general workshop equipment.
- Excellent attention to detail and a meticulous approach to workmanship.
- A strong understanding of health & safety procedures.
- The ability to follow processes and procedures accurately.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively at all levels.
- A positive and reliable attitude with a strong work ethic.
- Good physical fitness, with the ability to lift and move heavy materials where required.
- Flexibility to work overtime at short notice when required.
