Job Summary
Are you experienced electronics design professional ready to take the next step into a hands-on leadership role where you can shape both technology and people?
We’re looking for an Electronics Design Team Leader to drive the development of complex, high-reliability power systems, while leading, developing, and growing a team of engineers.
The Role
This is a dual technical and people leadership role (approx. 60/40 split), where you’ll:
· Lead the design and development of low-voltage electronic subsystems within advanced power equipment
· Take full ownership of the hardware development lifecycle – from concept through to validation and production
· Provide hands-on technical direction across power electronics, analogue/digital design, and FPGA development
· Line manage and develop a team (~5 engineers), including:
· Performance management and reviews
· Coaching, mentoring, and career development
· Resource planning and team growth
· Drive engineering best practice, ensuring compliance with standards such as ISO9001 and IEC safety requirements
· Work cross-functionally with teams across engineering, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain
What We’re Looking For
You’ll bring a strong mix of technical expertise and proven people management experience:
Technical Experience
· Solid background in power electronics and complex hardware design
· Experience with FPGA or CPLD design (VHDL or Verilog) – ideally using Altera or Xilinx
· Knowledge of analogue and digital electronics, PCB design, and system-level integration
· Experience across the full hardware development lifecycle in a regulated environment
· Familiarity with Altium Designer (Zuken experience is a plus)
Leadership & Management
· Proven line management experience (not just project or technical leadership)
· Demonstrated ability to manage performance, develop individuals, and build effective teams
· Experience leading teams of at least 2–3 engineers, with accountability for delivery and people development
· Strong communication skills with the ability to influence across multiple stakeholders
Why Apply?
· Opportunity to lead cutting-edge power electronics development
· A role with real scope to grow and shape a team
· Strong balance of hands-on engineering and leadership responsibility
· Competitive package with bonus and car allowance
