General Practitioner Clinical Teaching Fellow (sessional)
Salary: £62.38 per hour (plus annual leave uplift)
We are recruiting additional GP Clinical Teaching Fellows to work on a sessional basis, to support Primary Care teaching delivery at Lancaster Medical School.
We have a well-established Primary Care Academic Teaching Team at LMS and the MBChB benefits from significant input from GP tutors facilitating small group teaching throughout the undergraduate course. This undergraduate Primary Care experience is valued by students and positively influences their future career choices, with many choosing to work in our local community.
We are looking for GPs who have an enthusiastic approach to Primary Care and medical education to inspire our students and instil a broad understanding of Primary Care. This means that while we appreciate and value experienced medical educators, we also welcome applications from GPs seeking new challenges and who may not already have experience of undergraduate teaching. These roles are enormously rewarding and can complement and invigorate GP clinical work.
There are a variety of teaching opportunities available with a range of half to full day campus-based sessions delivering Primary Care teaching. These sessions take place on a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday. There is also opportunity to contribute to additional educational activities within the MBChB programme.
Successful candidates will be supported with a full induction, access to an established programme of regular Primary Care Educational meetings, access to resources through the LUMEN network and feedback on their teaching through Peer Review. The posts will be reviewed annually with expectation that tutors engage with medical education related professional development every year. The posts will commence from September 2026 and will be paid on a sessional basis.
