A&M EDM is a highly successful, engineering organisation based over 2 sites in Smethwick. We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Engineer with strong knowledge of Sodick EDM and Hurco CNC machinery to join our growing engineering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and optimising a range of precision manufacturing equipment to ensure maximum machine uptime and production efficiency.

Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on Sodick EDM and Hurco CNC machines.
- Diagnose and repair electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and control system faults.
- Respond promptly to machine breakdowns to minimise production downtime.
- Perform machine calibrations, alignments, and performance checks.
- Work closely with production and engineering teams to identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation.
- Liaise with machine manufacturers and external service providers when required.
- Assist with machine installations, relocations, and commissioning activities.
- Ensure all maintenance activities are completed in accordance with health and safety procedures.
Skills & Experience Required
- Proven experience maintaining Sodick EDM machines and Hurco CNC machining centres.
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills across electrical and mechanical systems.
- Knowledge of CNC controls, servo systems, drives, and automation equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical drawings.
- Experience within a precision engineering, toolmaking, aerospace, automotive, or manufacturing environment.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to maintenance.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
- Relevant engineering qualification (Apprenticeship, NVQ, HNC/HND, or equivalent) preferred.
Desirable Skills
- Experience with wire EDM and sink EDM technology.
- PLC fault-finding and programming knowledge.
- Familiarity with preventative and predictive maintenance systems.
- Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement experience.
