About the Venue
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the kitchen team at a thriving bar and restaurant on the vibrant North Shields Fish Quay. Since opening in April, the venue has quickly established itself as a popular destination, combining a busy bar with quality dining in one of the North East's most sought-after waterfront locations.
We're looking for a passionate and experienced Sous Chef to support our Head Chef and help drive the kitchen as we continue to grow.
The Role
As Sous Chef, you'll play a key role in the day-to-day running of the kitchen, ensuring consistently high standards of food quality, presentation, and service. This is a hands-on role, ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume environment and enjoys leading by example.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Head Chef with the daily operation of the kitchen
- Lead and motivate the kitchen team during service
- Ensure food is prepared and presented to a consistently high standard
- Assist with stock control, ordering, and food cost management
- Maintain excellent standards of food safety, cleanliness, and hygiene
- Train, mentor, and develop junior chefs and kitchen staff
- Contribute to menu development and seasonal specials
- Take responsibility for the kitchen in the Head Chef's absence
About You
- Previous experience as a Sous Chef, or an experienced Chef de Partie ready to step up
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate a team
- Excellent knowledge of food safety and kitchen operations
- Organised, reliable, and calm under pressure
- Passionate about producing quality food and delivering excellent customer experiences
- A positive attitude and strong work ethic
