We are seeking an enthusiastic and customer-focused IT Helpdesk Technician to join our Computer Services team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting the technology that underpins teaching, learning and business operations across our College.
As an IT Helpdesk Technician, you will provide first and second-line technical support to staff and students, responding to helpdesk requests, troubleshooting hardware and software issues, and ensuring the smooth operation of our IT infrastructure. The role offers exposure to a wide range of technologies including Microsoft 365, desktop and mobile devices, networking, telephony, AV equipment, printing services and Wi-Fi systems.
Working as part of a supportive and experienced IT team, you will contribute to maintaining a reliable, secure and high-performing IT environment across both Bishop Burton and Riseholme campuses.
- Providing responsive technical support via the IT helpdesk.
- Diagnosing and resolving hardware, software and connectivity issues.
- Installing, configuring and maintaining IT equipment and applications.
- Supporting Microsoft 365, Active Directory and a range of college systems.
- Assisting with the deployment of new hardware, software and desktop images.
- Supporting AV, telephony, CCTV, printing and wireless network services.
- Maintaining accurate IT asset and licensing records.
- Working collaboratively with colleagues and support partners to deliver excellent IT services.
- Level 3 qualification (or higher) in an IT-related subject.
- Experience in an IT support or helpdesk environment.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Microsoft 365, Active Directory and common desktop applications.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
- A proactive approach and willingness to learn new technologies.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
