We have a vacancy for a Casual Library Assistant, to cover for absences, sometimes at short notice, at Macclesfield and Bollington Libraries, with potential for shifts at other libraries nearby.
A Library Assistant is a first point of contact for users of the library. Dealing with members of the public in person and on the telephone. answering enquiries, assisting them with their own, and library technology, staffing the council customer service point, and signposting other agencies. This post is a casual position.
About the role
Dealing with the public, in person, and on the telephone, answering enquiries, assisting and leading Children's and Adult's activities, helping customers use the self-service terminals and public computers, dealing with Council related enquiries and signposting to other agencies, and providing a warm and welcoming space to a whole host of groups and activities that take place in the library. will make up the most of your day.
Shelving, sorting, and talking about books, and working as part of a dedicated, supportive team will make up the rest.
About you
If you are committed to providing excellent customer service and can contribute cheerfully and positively to an efficient, quality library service, then Cheshire East Libraries could be the place for you.
You will need to demonstrate an interest in people, information, books and lifelong learning.
You should have a willingness to engage with individuals of all ages and backgrounds and have experience of working in a customer facing environment.
We need someone with the energy and enthusiasm to deliver effective reader development opportunities to adults and children and respond to the needs of our customers and community.
