About BREAKOUT
Everyone deserves someone in their corner.
I started BREAKOUT because I got tired of watching brilliant young people fall through the cracks. Not because they lacked talent or potential, but because too often they simply didn’t have the right people around them.
Someone to back them, someone to open a door, someone to believe in them when they didn’t yet believe in themselves.
That’s why BREAKOUT exists.
We bring young people together with employers in real environments, helping them build confidence, develop meaningful relationships and access genuine pathways into employment.
Not through endless workshops, not through ticking boxes through real people and real opportunities.
Since launching, we’ve brought together almost 100 leaders and employers, secured funding for our first programmes, built partnerships with organisations across Greater Manchester and supported our first cohorts of young people.
We’re still at the beginning.
Our ambition is simple: to become the organisation every young person wishes they’d found sooner.
Now we’re looking for our first hire.
The Role
This isn’t just our first hire.
It’s someone who will help shape what BREAKOUT becomes.
As our Pathways & Partnerships Lead, you’ll sit right in the middle of everything we do.
One minute you’ll be supporting a young person who’s unsure what comes next.
The next you’ll be speaking with an employer about creating a placement, internship or job opportunity.
You’ll help turn momentum into outcomes, relationships into opportunities and potential into progress.
Above all, you’ll become someone in young people’s corner.
What You’ll Do
Be Their Person
- You’ll build genuine relationships with the young people joining BREAKOUT.
- You’ll help them feel welcomed, challenged and supported throughout their journey.
- You’ll celebrate the wins, help them through setbacks and make sure nobody falls through the cracks.
- You’ll play a key role in delivering our Future Focus programme and supporting participants long after it finishes.
Create Pathways
Our programmes are just the beginning.
Your job is to help every young person access a meaningful next step.
That could be:
Work experience
An internship
An apprenticeship
Employment
A mentor
Further education
Or another opportunity that’s right for them
You’ll keep momentum going until opportunity becomes reality.
Build Employer Partnerships
You’ll work directly with employers who want to make a difference.
You’ll understand their business, identify opportunities and thoughtfully match young people to placements and roles.
You’ll help ensure employers have a brilliant experience too, because lasting partnerships create lasting opportunities.
Help Build BREAKOUT
We’re a startup charity and that means everyone rolls their sleeves up. You’ll help improve our programmes, shape new ideas, spot opportunities and influence how BREAKOUT grows.
Your voice won’t just be heard, It’ll help build the organisation.
Who We’re Looking For
We’re much more interested in attitude than a perfect CV.
You might come from:
- Youth work.
- Recruitment.
- Education.
- Partnerships.
- Community engagement.
- Or somewhere completely different.
If you naturally build relationships, take ownership and genuinely care about people, we’d love to hear from you.
We’re looking for someone who:
Builds trust quickly.
Takes ownership and follows things through.
Communicates confidently with both young people and senior leaders.
Is organised without being overly bureaucratic.
Enjoys solving problems.
Sees opportunities where others see barriers.
Wants to help build something from the ground up.
What Success Looks Like
After your first year, you’ll have:
Helped dozens of young people move into meaningful opportunities.
Built trusted relationships with employers across Greater Manchester.
Helped deliver outstanding BREAKOUT programmes.
Created partnerships that continue opening doors for future cohorts.
Played a significant role in building one of the UK’s most exciting youth charities.
Why Join BREAKOUT?
Because this isn’t just another job.
- You’ll have genuine ownership from day one.
- You’ll work closely with the founder.
- You’ll help shape decisions.
- You’ll see the impact of your work every single week.
- And you’ll be joining at the very beginning of something with huge ambition.
We can’t promise everything will always be easy, but we can promise your work will matter.
Salary: £26,000 - £28,000 per annum (depending on experience)
This is a full-time, initial three-month fixed-term contract.
As an early-stage charity, we’re making our first investment in growing organisational capacity. Our intention is that, subject to organisational growth, funding and performance, this role will develop into a permanent position with increasing responsibility and opportunities to help shape BREAKOUT’s future.
How to Apply
This role isn’t for everyone.
We’re looking for someone who believes every young person deserves someone in their corner.
Someone who’s excited by building rather than maintaining, someone who cares less about job titles and more about changing trajectories.
If that’s you, we’d love to hear your story.
When you apply, don’t just tell us about your experience.
Tell us why this matters to you.
Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis and interviews may take place before the closing date. We reserve the right to close this vacancy early should we identify a suitable candidate, so early applications are encouraged.
Pay: £26,000.00-£28,000.00 per year
