Sevello Children’s Homes are looking for a dedicated Weekend Support Worker to join the established team at New Haven, our Ofsted-rated GOOD children’s home near Sudbury.
This is a permanent weekend position, working every Friday, Saturday and Sunday, totalling 45 hours per week. There will also be opportunities to pick up additional overtime if you would like to earn more.
New Haven supports up to four children, providing a safe, nurturing and stable home where children are supported to develop, build confidence and achieve positive outcomes.
We’re looking for someone who is caring, resilient and reliable and who genuinely wants to make a difference to the lives of the children we support.
The Role
As a Weekend Support Worker, you’ll be an important part of maintaining consistency and stability for the children throughout the weekend.
You’ll support with day-to-day routines, activities and outings, help children develop independence and life skills, and build positive relationships that allow them to feel safe and supported.
Salary:
- Qualified – £35,451 per year + £65 per sleep-in
- Unqualified – £32,526 per year + £65 per sleep-in
- Overtime available
- Double time at Christmas and New Year
- Time and a half on other bank holidays
Hours: 45 hours per week
Working Pattern: Every Friday, Saturday and Sunday
Sleep-ins: As required
Annual Leave: 240 hours
Location: New Haven, near Sudbury – full UK driving licence required due to the village location
What You’ll Be Doing
- Supporting children with their daily routines, education, activities and interests
- Planning and taking part in enjoyable weekend activities and outings
- Encouraging independence and helping children develop essential life skills
- Building positive, trusting relationships and being a consistent role model
- Providing emotional support and helping children manage difficult situations
- Working closely with colleagues to maintain a safe, nurturing and welcoming home
- Following individual care plans, risk assessments and safeguarding procedures
- Maintaining accurate records and contributing to effective handovers
- Supporting children to achieve positive outcomes and make progress
What We’re Looking For
- Someone who is passionate about working with children and young people
- A reliable person who can commit to working every Friday, Saturday and Sunday
- A positive, patient and resilient approach
- The ability to build strong and appropriate relationships with children
- Full UK driving licence – essential due to the rural village location
- Experience within residential childcare or supporting children with additional needs is desirable
- Level 3 or 4 qualification in Children and Young People is desirable but not essential
- If you’re not yet qualified, you’ll be supported to complete your Level 3 qualification through our Training Academy
