Job Overview
We are seeking a professional HGV Class 1 Driver to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of goods across various routes, ensuring timely deliveries and maintaining high standards of safety and customer service. This role offers an excellent opportunity for experienced drivers over the age of 25 with a strong focus on commercial driving and delivery operations. Duties
- Operate HGV Class 1 vehicles in accordance with legal and company standards
- Safely load, secure, and unload goods, ensuring proper handling and adherence to safety protocols
- Conduct pre-journey checks on vehicles to ensure roadworthiness and report any defects or issues
- Plan routes efficiently to meet delivery schedules while complying with driving hours regulations
- Complete all necessary documentation accurately, including delivery notes and logbooks
- Maintain a professional attitude when interacting with clients during deliveries
- Follow all health and safety guidelines to uphold a safe working environment at all times
- predominantly delivering potatoes but will also include curtain and tipper work.
- Be prepared to have nights out regularly
Experience
- Proven experience in commercial driving.
- Demonstrate familiarity with route planning and customer service skills
- Valid HGV Class 1 licence with no more than six penalty points (or equivalent)
- Knowledge of current road regulations and safety standards for large vehicle operation
- Experience with secure cargo handling, especially in relation to potato transportation, is advantageous
