Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and hardworking Yard Worker to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining the yard and ensuring that materials are handled efficiently. This role requires physical stamina and the ability to operate various equipment safely while adhering to all safety protocols.
Responsibilities
- Operate forklifts and other machinery for loading and unloading materials.
- Perform materials handling tasks, including sorting, stacking, and storing items in the yard.
- Conduct basic maths calculations for inventory management and stock levels.
- Assist with equipment repair and maintenance as needed.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations while performing tasks in the warehouse environment.
- Manage shipping and receiving processes, ensuring accurate documentation and tracking of materials.
- Utilise a warehouse management system to monitor inventory levels and assist in stock control.
- Perform heavy lifting as required, ensuring proper techniques are used to prevent injury.
Experience
- Previous experience in a warehouse or yard environment is preferred but not essential.
- Familiarity with forklift operation and materials handling is advantageous.
- Basic mechanical knowledge is beneficial for equipment repair tasks.
- Experience with shipping and receiving processes will be considered an asset.
