Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and passionate Cook to join our culinary team at Whitelow House Nursing Home. The ideal candidate will have experience in a Care Home or similar setting and possess a strong understanding of food safety and meal preparation for residents. As a Cook, you will play a vital role in creating delicious dishes that meet our high standards of quality and presentation . Your culinary expertise will contribute to an exceptional dining experience for our residents.
Duties
- Prepare and cook a variety of meals according to established recipes and menu specifications.
- Ensure all food is prepared in compliance with food safety regulations and standards.
- Assist in the planning and execution of menus, taking into consideration seasonal ingredients and customer preferences.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, including proper storage of food items.
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure timely service.
- Monitor inventory levels of ingredients and supplies, notifying management when reordering is necessary.
- Help train new kitchen staff on food preparation techniques and safety practices.
- Participate in regular kitchen meetings to discuss menu changes, special events, and operational improvements.
- Kitchen audits
- Preparation of different specialised meals for residents with swallowing difficulties.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Cook in a Care Homes or similar environment.
- Strong knowledge of food safety practices and culinary techniques.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen setting while maintaining high standards of quality.
- Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while also being able to take initiative when required.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, if needed.
- A passion for cooking and creating exceptional dishes that delight our residents.
