We are currently seeking a skilled and passionate Boat Builder to join our highly experienced production team.
The Role
As a Boat Builder at Broom, you will be involved in the entire lifecycle of a vessel, from initial layout to final fit-out. We are looking for a true craftsman who understands how a boat comes together from start to completion. You will have a deep understanding of all aspects of a new boat build, with a strong focus on high-quality bonding, structural assembly, and precision marine joinery.
Key Responsibilities
- Full Build Lifecycle: Undertake and manage various stages of the boat building process from hull preparation to final completion.
- Joinery & Fit-Out: Manufacture, fit, and install high-quality internal and external marine joinery, cabinetry, and linings to a luxury standard.
- Bonding & Structural Assembly: Execute structural bonding, bulkhead installation, and deck-to-hull bonding using modern adhesives and techniques.
- Component Installation: Install windows, hatches, deck hardware, and internal fixtures according to technical drawings and specifications.
- Quality Assurance: Maintain exceptionally high standards of craftsmanship, ensuring every detail meets Broom’s luxury benchmark and champions British build quality.
- Team Collaboration: Work seamlessly alongside our experienced team of engineers, laminators, and electricians to ensure build schedules are met safely and efficiently.
Key Requirements & Experience
- Proven Experience: A solid background in marine construction or boat building (experience with luxury motor yachts or cruisers is highly desirable).
- Complete Build Knowledge: A comprehensive understanding of how a modern boat is constructed from the keel up.
- Superb Joinery Skills: Exceptional woodworking and joinery skills, with an eye for detail and a precision finish.
- Bonding Expertise: Strong practical knowledge of marine bonding agents, sealants, and structural assembly.
- Technical Literacy: Ability to read and accurately interpret technical drawings and boat plans.
