We are looking for enthusiastic Freelance Speech & Language Therapists to join our team and deliver face-to-face therapy from our Brentwood clinic.
This is primarily an intervention-based role, with therapists delivering one-to-one speech and language therapy to children and young people aged approximately 2–16 years.
You may work with children presenting with a range of needs and diagnoses, including:
- Autism / social communication differences
- Developmental Language Disorder (DLD)
- Speech sound disorders and speech delay
- Language delay
- Developmental delay
- Down syndrome
- Learning disabilities
- Attention and listening difficulties
- Receptive language difficulties
- Expressive language difficulties
- Social communication needs
- AAC users and children with limited or no spoken language
- Children requiring support with early interaction and communication
- Children with difficulties developing vocabulary, sentences and functional communication
You will:
- Deliver individual speech and language therapy sessions in the clinic.
- Work towards established therapy goals and programmes.
- Plan engaging, child-centred therapy activities appropriate to each child’s needs.
- Adapt your intervention according to the child’s communication profile, interests and level of engagement.
- Provide parents and carers with appropriate feedback following sessions.
- Record therapy outcomes and maintain clear clinical notes.
- Complete associated paperwork and administration within allocated time.
- Liaise with the wider clinical team where appropriate.
- Maintain professional and clinical standards in line with HCPC and RCSLT guidance.
- Follow Unlocking Language’s clinical, safeguarding and operational procedures.
Therapy appointments will typically be 30–45 minutes, with opportunities within your clinic hours to complete clinical notes and associated paperwork.
You will have access to our established clinic facilities, including a wide range of therapy resources, toys, assessments, visual supports, games and specialist equipment.
You will also be working alongside an experienced paediatric speech and language therapy team, providing an opportunity to develop your clinical experience across a varied caseload.
We are currently looking for therapists who can commit to a minimum of 4 clinic hours during:

There may be opportunities for additional hours depending on clinic demand and therapist availability.
£23-28 per hour – Freelance / Self-Employed
As this is a freelance position, therapists will be responsible for their own tax, National Insurance and other obligations associated with self-employment.
Applicants must:
- Hold a recognised Speech and Language Therapy qualification.
- Be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
- Have an interest in paediatric speech and language therapy.
- Be confident working directly with children and families.
- Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Be organised and able to maintain appropriate clinical documentation.
- Be reliable and able to commit to agreed clinic sessions.
- Understand professional boundaries, confidentiality and safeguarding responsibilities.
