We are currently seeking a skilled and motivated Electrician to join our growing team.
This is a field-based position covering the Darlington, Middlesbrough and the surrounding areas, with regional work when required. The role would suit an experienced electrician who takes pride in delivering high-quality work and exceptional customer service.
About the Role
You will complete a variety of electrical work across domestic and commercial properties, including:
- Electrical fault-finding, repairs and testing
- Electrical upgrades and small installation works
- Minor circuit rewires and accessory replacements
- Consumer unit replacements
- Inspection, testing and certification
- General electrical remedial work
You will also be responsible for completing the appropriate Electrical Installation Certificates and Minor Electrical Installation Works Certificates, together with risk assessments, photographs, job reports and online customer-satisfaction documentation.
Accuracy and attention to detail are essential.
Working Times
Monday to Friday, 08:00–17:30 + Weekend + On call (1-4 Coverage)
At the beginning of each working day, you will normally be expected to:
- Attend your first allocated customer between 08:00 and 08:30, ready to begin work; or
- Attend an approved electrical wholesaler or stockist at approximately 08:00 when materials are required.
Where a supplier visit is necessary, reasonable collection and onward travelling time will be allowed when scheduling the first customer appointment.
Punctuality and effective journey planning are essential. Engineers must keep the office informed of unexpected delays, job overruns or anything that may affect subsequent appointments.
Occasional on-call duties or staffing cover may be available or required by prior agreement. Any call-out payment or additional work will be managed separately.
What We’re Looking For
We are looking for a professional, customer-focused electrician who:
- Is fully qualified and able to complete the appropriate testing and certification
- Has strong fault-finding, diagnostic and installation skills
- Can work effectively without constant supervision
- Works well independently and as part of a wider team
- Is reliable, punctual and well organised
- Is courteous and respectful when working in customers’ homes and premises
- Has experience across domestic and commercial electrical installations
- Communicates clearly with customers, colleagues and the office
- Is comfortable using digital job-management and reporting systems
Essential Skills and Qualifications
- NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation or equivalent (essential)
- Current 18th Edition Wiring Regulations qualification (essential)
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic ability (essential)
- Ability to complete Minor Works and Electrical Installation Certificates
- Full UK driving licence
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Competence with digital documentation and online reporting
City & Guilds 2391, 2394/2395 or an equivalent inspection and testing qualification would be desirable.
