Part-Time Qualified Nursery Assistant
Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and caring Part-Time Nursery Assistant to join our Little Stars team. This role offers an opportunity to support the daily activities of young children within a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment. The successful candidate will contribute positively to early years learning and development while gaining valuable hands-on experience under professional mentorship.
Hours & Flexibility
- Schedule: 34 hours per week, structured as four 8-hour working days.
- Break: Includes a 1-hour unpaid lunch break per shift.
- Flexibility: Rota-based days. Candidates must be fully flexible to work any four days from Monday to Friday as required by nursery needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervision & Care: Maintain child safety during play, learning, and mealtimes. Assist with daily routines, including feeding, nappy changing, and settling children.
- Educational Support: Assist in planning and implementing age-appropriate activities that foster communication, social skills, and creativity.
- Environment Maintenance: Ensure a clean, safe, and welcoming nursery environment in strict accordance with health and safety standards.
- Effective Communication: Interact professionally with children, colleagues, and parents to support a unified approach to childcare.
- Behaviour Management: Implement positive behaviour management strategies in alignment with established nursery policies.
- Admin & Resources: Assist with organising educational resources and maintaining accurate daily records, including progress notes and attendance.
Experience & Attributes
- Childcare Passion: A genuine enthusiasm for early years development is essential; previous nursery experience is highly desirable.
- Developmental Knowledge: Standard understanding of early childhood education principles and developmental stages.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written English communication skills; professional proficiency in Welsh is advantageous.
- Teamwork & Initiative: Ability to work collaboratively within a team while demonstrating leadership and management skills during group activities.
- Personal Qualities: A patient, empathetic, and reliable attitude with a strong commitment to supporting young children.
Role Requirements
- Qualifications: Relevant childcare qualifications (e.g., Level 2 or Level 3 in Children’s Care, Play, Learning and Development) are advantageous.
- Vetting: An Enhanced DBS check and two professional references will be required prior to appointment.
Pay: £10.00-£13.01 per hour
