Overview
We are seeking reliable and enthusiastic School Catering Assistants to start in September to support the delivery of high-quality meal services within a busy school environment. This role involves assisting with food preparation, serving meals to students and staff, and maintaining a clean and safe kitchen and dining area. The successful candidate will play an important part in ensuring pupils receive nutritious meals in a welcoming and well-organised setting.
Responsibilities
- Assist with basic food preparation in line with kitchen guidelines and menu requirements.
- Serve meals to pupils and staff in a friendly, efficient, and professional manner.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen, dining areas, and food service equipment.
- Support the setup and clearing of dining areas before and after meal service.
- Follow food hygiene, health and safety, and safeguarding procedures at all times.
- Wash dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment as required.
- Replenish food counters and supplies during service periods.
- Work collaboratively with the catering team to ensure smooth meal service during busy periods.
Requirements
- Previous experience in catering, food service, or kitchen environments is desirable but not essential.
- Basic knowledge of food hygiene and safe food handling practices.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- A positive, reliable, and professional attitude.
- Ability to work within a school environment and follow safeguarding procedures.
- Food hygiene certification is advantageous but can be provided if required.

Pay: From £12.75 per hour
