Job Summary
The Hands-On Workshop Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and actively participating in the refurbishment, repair, testing, and assembly of safety relief valves and control valves. The role ensures all workshop activities are carried out efficiently, safely, and in compliance with applicable industry standards and customer requirements. This position requires strong technical expertise, leadership ability, and a hands-on approach to daily workshop operations, this role requires a customer first approach to completing all work through the workshop.
Key Responsibilities
Workshop Supervision & Leadership
· Supervise daily workshop operations related to safety valve and control valve refurbishment.
· Lead and support technicians in dismantling, inspection, repair, assembly, and testing activities.
· Allocate jobs and resources effectively to meet delivery schedules and customer commitments.
· Provide on-the-job coaching and training to improve team performance and technical skills.
Hands-On Technical Duties
· Lead all in situ work on site
· Perform hands-on refurbishment and overhaul of safety valves and control valves.
· Diagnose valve failures and recommend corrective actions.
· Ensure proper lapping, machining, cleaning, replacement of parts, and reassembly.
· Conduct functional testing, calibration, and pressure testing as required.
Quality & Compliance
· Ensure all refurbishment work meets applicable standards (API, ASME, OEM specifications).
· Lead all RAMS undertaken on site
· Maintain accurate documentation, test certificates, inspection reports, and job records.
· Implement workshop quality control procedures and ensure traceability of parts.
· Support internal and external audits when required.
Health, Safety & Environment
· Enforce strict adherence to HSE policies and safe workshop practices.
· All courses required to be completed for all site based work tasks, examples include BA, confined space, CCNSG,
· Ensure correct use of PPE, tools, lifting equipment, and testing rigs.
· Identify and report hazards, near misses, and unsafe working conditions.
· Promote a strong safety culture within the workshop team.
Planning & Coordination
· Coordinate with engineering, procurement, and operations teams for spare parts and tooling needs.
· Monitor workflow progress and provide updates to management and customers when required.
· Assist in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and efficiency.
Required Qualifications & Experience
· Technical Diploma or Trade Certification in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline preferred.
· Experience in valve repair/refurbishment operations.
· Experience with Safety Relief Valves (SRVs) and Control Valves.
· Proven supervisory or team leadership experience in a workshop environment.
· Knowledge of API/ASME standards and valve testing procedures.

Working Conditions
· Workshop-based role with hands-on mechanical work.
· May require lifting, standing for long periods, and working with pressure testing equipment.
· Overtime or urgent job support will be required part of the role through the week and including weekends, also on call support.
Pay: From £43,000.00 per year
