TIDES is a vibrant seafront restaurant, bar and terrace located at Abbey Sands, Torquay. We pride ourselves on exceptional customer service, high-quality food and drink, and creating memorable experiences for our guests.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, organised, and hands-on Front of House Team Leader to help lead our team and ensure smooth daily operations.
Key Responsibilities Opening & Closing Duties
- Open and prepare the restaurant, bar, and terrace areas for service.
- Complete daily opening and closing checklists.
- Ensure all areas are clean, presentable, and ready for guests.
- Secure the premises and complete end-of-day procedures.
Team Leadership
- Lead and motivate the front of house team during service.
- Support training and development of team members.
- Maintain high standards of customer service at all times.
- Act as the first point of contact for guest concerns and team queries.
Stock Control
- Complete regular stock checks.
- Monitor stock levels and report shortages.
- Assist with ordering and stock rotation.
- Ensure wastage is minimised and recorded correctly.
Service Standards
- Deliver exceptional guest experiences.
- Ensure food and drinks are served efficiently and correctly.
- Maintain excellent knowledge of menus, wines, cocktails, and specials.
- Drive upselling opportunities and increase average spend.
Health & Safety
- Ensure compliance with food hygiene and health & safety regulations.
- Maintain cleanliness throughout all front of house areas.
- Follow company procedures and licensing regulations.
Administrative Duties
- Cash handling and till reconciliation.
- Assist with staff rotas when required.
- Complete daily reports and handovers.
- Communicate effectively with kitchen and management teams.

- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Flexible approach to working evenings, weekends, and holidays.
