Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable and motivated Warehouse Operative to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient handling of items within our warehouse environment. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop your skills in logistics, stock management, and warehouse operations. The position is paid and suitable for individuals with a keen eye for detail and a strong work ethic. Previous warehouse experience is preferred but not essential, as training will be provided.
Responsibilities
- Handling items efficiently, including loading and unloading goods from lorries and storage areas
- Operating forklifts and other warehouse machinery safely (training provided)
- Managing stock levels using the warehouse management system (WMS) to ensure accurate inventory records
- Picking and packing orders accurately to meet customer requirements
- Organising stock replenishment and stocking shelves to optimise storage space
- Assisting with shipping and receiving processes, ensuring timely dispatch and receipt of goods
- Conducting quality control checks to maintain high standards of product integrity
- Performing mechanical tasks related to warehouse equipment maintenance and troubleshooting
- Ensuring the warehouse environment remains clean, organised, and compliant with health and safety regulations
- Supporting load and unload operations during busy periods, ensuring safety protocols are followed
Skills
- Proven experience in materials handling, shipping & receiving, or similar roles within a warehouse environment
- Proficiency with forklift operation (certification preferred but training available)
- Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS) or inventory software is advantageous
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively
- Mechanical knowledge or experience with warehouse equipment maintenance is a plus
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently during load & unload activities
- Attention to detail for picking, packing, and quality control processes
- Good communication skills to work effectively within a team environment
- Physical fitness to stand for long periods and perform manual handling tasks as required
