Housing Team Leader – Belfast
Location: Belfast, BT7
Pay: £16.76 per hour
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Contract: Temporary to Permanent
Schedule: Rota basis, including evenings, weekends and bank holidays
The Role
We are currently recruiting an experienced Housing Team Leader to join our client's supported housing service in Belfast.
Our client provides supported housing for care-experienced young people aged 16–21, helping them build the skills, confidence and independence required to maintain their own homes and successfully move into independent tenancies.
As Housing Team Leader, you will provide leadership, advice, guidance and supervisory support to a team of day, night and bank support workers. You will work closely with the Housing Manager to ensure the effective day-to-day running and continued development of the service.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced support professional who is ready to take on a leadership role within a service dedicated to achieving positive outcomes for young people.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, manage and support a team of Support Workers.
- Complete formal and informal staff supervision alongside the Housing Manager.
- Promote best practice when supporting young people.
- Ensure a high-quality service is delivered consistently.
- Develop and manage staff rotas to meet the needs of the service.
- Ensure young people receive appropriate support based on their individual needs and identified risks.
- Promote safeguarding and ensure appropriate procedures are followed.
- Support young people to develop the skills needed to manage and maintain their own accommodation.
- Advocate for young people's housing rights and ensure their voices are heard.
- Support the learning, development and ongoing training of staff.
- Participate in team meetings, supervision and reflective practice.
- Assist with staff recruitment, induction and development.
- Maintain appropriate professional records and ensure GDPR requirements are followed.
- Ensure health and safety, fire safety and security standards are maintained.
- Work effectively with external agencies and other professionals.
- Support the effective management and development of the housing service.
- Participate in weekend, shift and on-call arrangements as required.
Essential Criteria
To be considered, applicants must have:
Either:
- At least 3 years' experience working with young people in supported housing or a similar environment.
OR:
- A Degree in Social Work, Youth and Community Work or similar; and
- At least 2 years' experience working with young people in supported housing or a similar environment.
AND:
- Demonstrable ability to manage and develop a team.
- An understanding of the needs of young people who have left care or who have high support needs.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and use your own initiative.
- Ability to work flexibly according to the needs of the service.
- A full, current driving licence with access to a car insured for business use.
Desirable
- Previous experience in a leadership role within an organisation or service.
Temporary to Permanent Opportunity
Successful candidates will initially commence on a Temporary to Permanent contract.
The temporary placement can last up to 8 weeks, with reviews expected at Week 4 and Week 8. Candidates successfully progressing to permanent employment may require an additional period for our client's HR and compliance processes.
Shortlisted candidates will be required to attend a competency and values-based interview with our client.
