Job Overview
- To support the effective delivery and development of the Wellbeing Hub and wider mental health and wellbeing offer across Grantham and surrounding areas.
- The community connector will work closely with local communities, partner organisations, and individuals to improve access to wellbeing support, reduce isolation, and help strengthen community resilience. The role will focus on connected people to local opportunities and services which support mental health and wellbeing, with a particular focus on addressing health inequalities and preventing escalation to statutory services.
- The post holder will build positive relationships within the community, support partnership working, and help develop inclusive and accessible wellbeing opportunities for local residents.
Key Responsibilities
- Community Engagement & Development
- Build Positive relationships with local communities, groups and organisations to promote mental health and wellbeing support
- Identify and promote local activities, services, and opportunities which support wellbeing and reduce social isolation.
- Encourage individuals to access community activities including volunteering, arts & crafts, physical activity, cultural groups and life skills opportunities.

Project Management, Monitoring & Continuous Improvement
- Create and manage project monitoring systems
- Support collection of monitoring data and participant feedback
- Draft monitoring reports and case studies as required by commissioners and the project contract
- Contribute to service improvement and evaluation
Volunteer Recruitment, Coordination, Support and Development
- Recruit volunteers in line with safer recruitment, equality, and inclusion policies
- Promote volunteering opportunities through community and partner networks
- Ensure appropriate onboarding, role matching, deployment and debriefing of volunteers
- Provide induction, required training, supervision, and ongoing support to volunteers
- Promote volunteer wellbeing, boundaries, and reflective practice
- Support retention through recognition, feedback, and development opportunities
Safeguarding, Quality & Governance
- Ensure volunteers understand and follow safeguarding, confidentiality, and data protection requirements
- Maintain accurate volunteer records in line with GDPR
- Identify and escalate safeguarding or risk concerns in line with procedures
Partnership & Integrated Working
- Work collaboratively with NHS services, Local Authority teams, and VCS partners
- Support social prescribing and community-based wellbeing pathways
- Represent the Wellbeing Hub in multi-agency settings as required
Person Specification.
Essential
- Experience in a community, wellbeing, health, or social care setting
- Experience supporting or coordinating volunteers
- Experience of project management or administration
- Understanding of safeguarding, confidentiality, and professional boundaries
- Strong communication and organisational skills
Desirable
- Knowledge of NHS, Local Authority, or VCS environments
- Experience of strengths-based or person-centred approaches or asset based community development
- Understanding of community wellbeing or mental health support
