Homeless Males Support Worker
The Homeless Male Support Worker is responsible for providing practical and emotional support to homeless men living within Fresh Start Project CIC. The role focuses on helping individuals develop the skills, confidence, and stability needed to move towards independent living while addressing issues such as housing, mental health, substance misuse, and employment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide day-to-day support to males experiencing homelessness.
- Build trusting, professional relationships with clients through regular key work sessions.
- Develop and implement personalised support plans tailored to individual needs and goals.
- Assist clients in accessing services such as housing, healthcare, benefits, employment, and education.
- Support clients with life skills including budgeting, cooking, personal hygiene, and tenancy responsibilities.
- Promote independence, wellbeing, and positive behaviour change.
- Monitor client progress and maintain accurate records and reports.
- Conduct risk assessments and support safeguarding procedures where necessary.
- Work collaboratively with external agencies including housing providers, healthcare services, probation services, and local authorities.
- Respond to incidents and ensure the safety and wellbeing of clients within the accommodation.
- Encourage participation in activities that promote social inclusion and personal development.
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Experience working with vulnerable adults, ideally within homelessness, housing support, or social care.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to build rapport and maintain professional boundaries.
- Knowledge of issues affecting homeless individuals (e.g., mental health, substance misuse, trauma).
- Good organisational and record-keeping skills.
- Ability to manage challenging behaviour calmly and professionally.
- IT skills for case recording and communication.

This job would be part time hours over a weekend within our Westbourne and Portrack Project.
An enhanced DBS is essential this can be applied for prior to starting the post.
Driver would be advantage.
