Community Accessible Car/Minibus Driver

Role Summary
Mid Devon Mobility is seeking a reliable and caring Community Accessible Car/Minibus Driver to support our passenger transport services across Tiverton and the surrounding areas. This role involves transporting elderly and disabled passengers safely and comfortably, ensuring a high standard of service at all times.
Working Hours
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday: Split Shifts
07:45 –10:15
14:30 –17:00
Plus 1 hour per week for vehicle cleaning (flexible day). Additional daytime hours may be available depending on service needs and future expansion.

Key Responsibilities
Drive an accessible MPV or 15‑seat fully accessible minibus.
Follow Mid Devon Mobility’s Code of Practice for Passenger Transport and Driver’s Handbook.
Carry out daily vehicle safety checks (oil, water, tyres, exterior bodywork).
Maintain accurate logbook records and report defects, incidents, or concerns.
Ensure the vehicle is fueled and return fuel vouchers to the Transport Coordinator.
Clean the vehicle as required, especially before private hire bookings.
Arrange seating and ensure all passengers and the driver wear seatbelts.
Provide safe, considerate assistance to passengers, including boarding, alighting, seatbelts, and handling bags/trolleys.
Demonstrate a caring, patient attitude, particularly when transporting frail, elderly, or disabled passengers.
Promote and uphold the positive image of Mid Devon Mobility.
Maintain regular weekly contact with the Transport Coordinator for instructions.
Report accidents, vehicle damage, or possible offences under Road Traffic Acts.
Pay any penalty charges incurred due to contravening Highway Code regulations during duties.
Qualifications & Requirements
D1 licence (restricted D1 accepted)
Clean driving licence – essential (no more than 3 points)
2 years driving experience – required
Devon County Council minibus driving test (arranged upon appointment)
Training provided for lift‑tail equipment
DBS check required prior to employment
First Aid certificate –
desirable but not essential
Additional Information
The role is subject to a three month probation period.
Sick pay is limited to statutory entitlement only.
