Job title: Service Administrator (Young Carers)
Pay scale: £26,228 (pro rata)
Hours: 22.5 hours per week
Holidays: 25 days plus Bank Holidays (pro rata)
Reporting to: Young Carers Lead
Aims of the post: To be the first point of contact for families and professionals making referrals into the young carers service including triaging, welcoming new families to the service and offering information about support options at Blackpool Carers Centre.
To support the team in gathering accurate and up to date information about new cases to ensure appropriate allocation of support.
To provide strong and effective administrative support to the young carers team, overseeing monitoring and enabling the smooth running of provision to young carers and their families.
JOB PURPOSE:
The post holder will be the first point of contact for families and professionals making referrals into the young carers service, ensuring that all relevant case information is available to the team to make allocation decisions.
The post holder will also lead on administrative support for the young carers team, ensuring that processes are effective across the service in providing quality support to young carers and their families affected by parental mental ill health and substance misuse.
The key objectives of the role are to:
- Be the first point of contact for referrals, event bookings, enquiries and monitoring.
- To provide triage phone calls to new families, providing information about the support available and welcoming them into the service.
- To work in partnership with professionals to gain a better understanding of the lived experience of families.
- To provide information to the team to aid appropriate allocation of support for children and families.
- Work with the Young Carers Lead to develop and maintain effective administrative support systems for the project
- Support other aspects of the service with triage and administration when required.
KEY TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES
· To work collaboratively with colleagues within Blackpool Carers to develop effective ‘customer service’, welcome information, triage and administrative processes.
- To provide triage support for the project, taking referrals and providing information.
- To present information regarding new referrals to the Young Carers Lead to assist in allocation decisions.
- Telephone calls and taking detailed messages for the team.
- Maintain databases, spreadsheets and monitoring.
- To help with the planning and organisation of events and meetings including research, costings and managing bookings.
- To liaise regularly with teams, attend meetings and provide written and verbal reports.
- Minute taking responsibilities for internal meetings.
- To work effectively with Blackpool Carers colleagues regarding external communications.
- To attend training courses and events as required.
- To contribute to training and support of volunteers and students within Blackpool Carers. Work closely with volunteers, students and all visitors to the building.
- To work across 7 days, including evening and weekends as required.
OTHER DUTIES

- To work positively and flexibly as part of the team to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of services for carers.
- To attend and participate in regular internal staff meetings.
- To undertake other tasks as required. To work under the direction of the Young Carers’ Lead and adhere to all Blackpool Carers policies and procedures and represent the organisation at appropriate meetings.
Duties of all Carers Centre staff are periodically reviewed and may alter in line with service requirements and developments in consultation with staff.
