About the Role
We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Chef to join our care home team, supporting an 80-bed service that provides high-quality care for adults aged 18 and over. Our residents have a range of needs, including learning disabilities, mental health conditions, physical frailty, and dementia.
This is more than just a cooking role—you will play a vital part in enhancing residents’ wellbeing, comfort, and daily enjoyment through nutritious, well-balanced, and appetising meals.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and deliver nutritious meals that meet a variety of dietary requirements and preferences
- Cater for specialist diets (e.g. texture-modified, allergen-aware, culturally appropriate meals)
- Ensure meals are appealing, varied, and tailored to residents’ individual needs
- Maintain high standards of food hygiene, safety, and cleanliness in line with regulations
- Manage stock, ordering, and kitchen budgets efficiently
- Work collaboratively with care staff to understand residents’ needs and preferences
- Contribute to a positive dining experience that promotes dignity and independence
About You
- Proven experience as a Chef, ideally within a care home, healthcare, or similar setting
- Knowledge of nutrition, especially in relation to older adults and vulnerable groups
- Understanding of dietary needs related to dementia, mental health, and physical conditions
- Food Hygiene Certificate (Level 2 or above)
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- A caring, patient, and respectful approach to working with vulnerable adults
- Ability to work flexibly, including weekends and holidays
